A uniform standard format is the choice for most healthcare transactions. Communication between Hospitals, Governmental Agencies and Healthcare providers can be conducted by formatting transmissions using HL7 protocols. HL7 V2 XX handles messaging feeds between agencies. But now a new version of HL7 V3 and FHIR handles many healthcare records and correspondence in addition to hospital message feeds. These are extremely detailed and intricate sets of protocols that most all systems attempt to address by writing specific transaction by transaction interfaces. Simply parsing through a transaction is a major ordeal, let alone being able to create online and hard copy reports from a data lake of HL7 transactions.
